Designing Clinical Research Scholars –
Grades are in for your final protocols, and for the course! I want to personally thank you for all the hard work that went into drafting, polishing and refining your final protocols – the vast majority that I saw were of very high quality. Most of you should have already received back your protocols with comments embedded in them from protocol graders, and a final grade for the course, in an email from your Small Group Leader. You can also look up your final grade on the CLE website. If you have not yet received this, please email Olivia de Leon at OLIVIA@epi.ucsf.edu.
Some notes on grading. In order to get you an independent read on your protocols (this aspect of the course is new this year, and we think it’s valuable), we had each protocol graded by someone who was NOT your Small Group Leader. This introduces some variability in grade calibration and also, potentially, in some discrepancy between the graders’ comments and what your own Small Group Leader might have seemed to expect from you. Rest assured that your final grade includes consideration of these issues, and represents a final integration of ALL of your hard work in DCR, including homework assignments, participation in section, attendance, as well as explicit or implied expectations within the Small Group that you were assigned to. We hope the comments on your protocols are useful.
We also hope many of you will go on to complete the studies you designed this Summer. Please feel free to email me personally when you do – I’d love to hear about it! Thanks again for your participation, and best of luck in your career, whatever you choose to do!
