Lecture: Orientation to Biostat 200, types of statistical variables, and univariate data summary
This lecture will include an overview of the course and expectations. Introduction to descriptive statistical analysis including definition of different types of variables, construction of frequency tables, measures of centrality (means, median, mode, range), standard deviation, and graphs (histograms, box plots, scatter plots, line graphs).Faculty: Judith Hahn

Lecture: Data cleaning and basic probablility concepts
This lecture will provide the basic probability terms and probability statements needed as a foundation for more advance statistical concepts. We will discuss the meaning of theoretical statistical distributions and examine the binomial distribution.Faculty: Judith Hahn

Lecture: Sampling distribution and confidence intervals
This lecture will discuss the concept of sampling, of sampling distributions, and the central limit theorem. We will use the central limit theorem to derive confidence intervals for means and proportions.Faculty: Judith Hahn

Lecture: Analysis of variance, nonparametric testing, and review of hypothesis testing
In this lecture we will discuss analysis of variance to compare multiple means, as well as non-parametric tests including the sign test, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and the Wilcoxon rank sum test. We will also review the hypothesis testing methods that we have covered in prior lectures.

Lecture: Contingency tables, McNemar's test, relative risks, and odds ratios
In this lecture we will discuss the construction of contingency tables and learn the chi-square test for independence for examining categorical data. We will start with 2x2 tables and move to larger tables, and we will discuss relative risks and odds ratios and calculate confidence intervals for these measures. We will discuss the use of McNemar’s test to examine paired dichotomous data.Faculty: Judith Hahn
