Dear enrollees in Publishing & Presenting Clinical Research:

Happy Memorial Day weekend! Please note that we have posted several videos to the on-line syllabus in the past few days. This includes a recording of our lively Journal Editor Roundtable webinar on May 19 (see https://courses.ucsf.edu/mod/kalvidres/view.php?id=632849), in which six editors-in-chief or senior editors of peer-reviewed clinical research journals shared their insights on the manuscript submission and review process. Thanks to those of you who submitted questions and promoted debate among the editors!

For those of you who chose Option 2 for your third course assignment, you can also find posted a video editing demonstration for the results section of the sample manuscript about a smoking cessation intervention study (https://courses.ucsf.edu/mod/kalvidres/view.php?id=632768).

Also, for those of you hoping to disseminate your own research results to the public in the not-too-distant future, please mark your calendars for our final interactive session on Tuesday, June 2, at 3 pm, featuring Dr. Margot Kushel in the Department of Medicine and Laura Kurtzmann UCSF news office:

No special preparation is required to attend or participate this live Zoom session.  But if you happen to have a research study for which you may want to prepare a press release in the future, we encourage you to bring it up during the session. Dr. Kushel and Ms. Kurtzman will help selected attendees develop a one-line description and articulate why the study may be newsworthy for a future press release.

Best wishes,

Alison Huang, Epi 212 course director
